Catherine Mellor
PGDip Play Therapy, PGCert Applied Systemic Practice, BA Hons (QTS), Dip in Supervision, Registered Play Therapist (APT International Professional), British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
With an interest in anxiety and trauma, I have developed a range of skills in mental health, education and social work to provide holistic support, working collaboratively with you, to empower positive change through self-compassion, awareness and understanding to improve mental, emotional and social wellbeing.
Life is tough and can throw challenges and hurdles our way. Sometimes we can get stuck in a negative mindset and need a shift in our thinking styles. We might suffer a traumatic event which throws us off balance and requires specific interventions to help process what's happened and support the healing. There might be a change in our family circumstances which creates difficulties in communication and connection, and leads to feelings of loneliness and isolation. No matter the cause, my goal is always to explore your experiences and challenges in a way that enables you to feel safe and supported, and for you to know you are not alone in your worries or difficulties. I will work alongside you to tailor my therapeutic approach and discover what helps you unlock your wellbeing.
My training in the solution focused model also extends to supervision and consultation, allowing me to provide support and tools to schools and organisations to improve the wellbeing of their team. I have also completed training in crisis management including PREpARE School Crisis Intervention model and I am a trained NOVA Crisis Responder.
I have been fortunate to be able to experience the blessings and drawbacks of expat life having worked in International Schools in Singapore and Austria, as well as private practice, and I am no stranger to the high and lows that this lifestyle can generate. The additional stress on families with pressurised jobs, education, and being away from support networks and loved ones can be really tough. I have supported many families through these periods of transition and stress.
If you feel I may be a good fit for you, or your family, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Here are some of the modalities I have been trained to use in our work together:

Welcome to ReGAIN Wellbeing.
I am a British born Multi-Disciplinary Therapist who works with children, adolescents, young adults (aged 5 to 25 years) and their families.
I’ve been part of the mental health community for over 20 years in the UK, as well as being lucky enough to also work overseas in Singapore and Austria during this time too. I have a background in education, social services and mental health services in the UK, including CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service), and established mental health services designed to support children and families in the care system.
